A TENS 7000 Provides Relief From Pain

In many instances, electrotherapy can be effectively used to manage chronic pain. Commonly, such pain is caused by injuries or accidents. Chronic illnesses can also result in constant pain. Essentially any area of one's body can be afflicted with pain, but some of the more common areas are the knees, back, and shoulders. A TENS 7000 device can offer substantial relief to individuals facing this condition.

The device works by transmitting tiny electrical currents. Transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation is the phrase for which the acronym stands. The machine uses electrodes, the latter of which are fastened to the person's skin, to deliver these mild currents. This type of electrotherapy centers specifically on the area in which the worst pain is experienced by the patient.

Such machines are usually recommended by those employed at pain clinics. Healthcare practitioners such as physical therapists, as well as sports coaches, may also recommend their use. The person's level of pain is usually relieved immediately when the device is attached, and it can be used continuously or intermittently. Most people report substantial relief from their symptoms when such a device is used.

TENS units send electric impulses to the nerves underneath the patient's skin. The area in which the electrodes are placed is where the nerves will receive the most stimulation. In numerous instances, pain sensations stop completely or abruptly decrease when the unit is in use.

The level of pain relief experienced varies significantly from one individual to the next, depending on the therapy mode selected, the cause of the person's pain, and the length of time for which the machine is used. For numerous individuals, relief extends far beyond the period of time the device is in use, which many patients find highly beneficial. In rare cases, the relief will only last while the machine is attached.

Transcutaneous electric nerve stimulators can offer the benefits outlined above when used in a medical facility or in the user's own home. The patient can adjust the frequency to a level that suits him or her. High-frequency or low-frequency stimulation can be selected, depending on what one's doctor recommends, and his or her individual preferences. It is often necessary to try different settings prior to finding the most effective one.

High frequency stimulation, which is considered the standard mode, can usually be tolerated for lengthy periods of time. However, after the machine is shut off, the pain relief lasts only briefly. Low frequency stimulation is typically well-tolerated for only thirty minutes at a time. This is because the sensation at the lower level can be somewhat uncomfortable. On a positive note, when used this way, one's pain relief typically lasts longer after the machine is turned off.

Prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications are the most common courses of treatment for painful conditions. However, along with being costly, negative side effects are associated with many of these drugs, including sleepiness, dizziness, and tolerance. By contrast, a TENS 7000 unit eliminates the need for such drugs, and can provide relief from tendinitis, back pain, sciatica, joint inflammation, osteoarthritis, and other types of chronic pain. It is also a very affordable therapy, making it a good choice for almost anybody who is suffering from continuous pain.
